ACTIVE: 1968-2025
Black Sabbath is a band without which none of the music I listen to would even exist.
There really is no other way to describe their importance to the metal genre. I consider myself late to the party with this band — I only really started listening to them around 1996. Sure, I knew the band and actually listened to Ozzy Osbourne, but at that point I just wasn’t that excited about Sabbath.
By 1996, though, I had heard a lot of death and thrash metal bands covering Sabbath songs. Especially when Cannibal Corpse and Brutal Truth made kick ass covers, I decided to give the band a proper chance. I bought a few of their earliest albums on discount and was hooked immediately. After that, I went and bought all the Black Sabbath albums with Ozzy. And I’ve been listening to those on a regular basis ever since.
