Ignea is a really good Ukrainian melodic metal band.
The band mixes heavy riffs with symphonic, electronic, and folk elements — plus storytelling. And trust me, it is even better than that description sounds..
This is one of the few bands I’ve discovered through Spotify’s recommendations, about a year after they released their first album. The fact that they’re from Ukraine and are still capable of creating and performing music is honestly beyond my comprehension. I mean, the entire country has been under military terror by Russia since 2014, which escalated into full-on warfare in February 2022.
I consider myself truly lucky to have seen them live — at the final show of their 2023 European tour, in December, in Helsinki. I really hope I get the chance to see them again in the future
