Machine Head is a heavy metal band from Oakland, California. The band was formed by vocalist/guitarist Robb Flynn, who also remains their only original member.
I’ve been following this band since their debut album, Burn My Eyes, hit the stores in 1994. To this day, I still consider it their best. And I still find pleasure, some 30+ years later, in listening to their albums.
Machine Head has released quite a few killer albums over the years, but back then, Burn My Eyes sounded refreshing — kind of like Pantera, or hell, even Metallica or a few other thrash metal bands. Yet, it still sounded like none of them.
