ACTIVE: 1993-
The Kovenant is an industrial (black) metal band from Norway. And they are awesome!
They started as a symphonic black metal band but slowly transitioned toward an industrial sound. I’m not a fan of their black metal era myself — the album that got my attention was their 1999 release, Animatronic. At the time, it presented something I’d never heard before. I think since then, more and more bands have been pushing boundaries in the same way… or settling into the area that The Kovenant and similar bands created. Even though the album prior to Animatronic, Nexus Polaris, is really good, these days I pretty much only listen to Animatronic.
The band was on a long hiatus but is now touring and probably even creating new music. Looking forward to it. Meanwhile, I did this sketch.
