STRANGE DAYS (ELECTRA, 1977)
Music is your only friend
Until the end
When the Music’s Over is a song by The Doors — and probably one of their best-known tunes. It’s also one of my favorite songs by the band — otherwise I wouldn’t be writing this introduction.
This nearly 11-minute-long track is a raw, powerful, and hypnotic journey that showcases the band at their most experimental. With its dynamic shifts, dark lyrical imagery, and intense spoken-word-style vocals by Jim Morrison, it really captures the essence of what The Doors were all about — pushing boundaries both musically and lyrically.
It’s not background music; it demands attention. And once you get into it, it’s hard to shake off.
