Banished by Sin is a song by Deicide — and the ninth track from their 2024 release of the same name.
I really love this album, though to be fair, I don’t have anything bad to say about any of Deicide’s releases. That said, a few albums in their long catalogue have occasionally felt like fillers — records made just to keep up with the release schedule expected from a band of their stature.
But when I first heard Banished by Sin, I was floored. I almost got the same rush of energy I felt when I first heard their early-nineties releases, which to me are still their best. And even if, musically, they might sometimes be performing what could be called “just” standard Deicide, their vocalist still sounds utterly demonic. I continue to consider Mr. Benton one of the best death metal vocalists of all time.
