STAY HUNGRY (ATLANTIC, 1984)
I Wanna Rock is the fifth track from Twisted Sister’s Stay Hungry album.
The album is by far their most-known release. It includes the band’s two signature songs, “We’re Not Gonna Take It” and “I Wanna Rock”, both of which had iconic music videos on heavy rotation on various music shows. If you were young during the 80’s and weren’t blind, you most likely saw them both. Back then, most music videos were… well, not exactly innovative, to say the least. But Twisted Sister was always about performance and entertainment — and their videos were no exception.
In 2009, “I Wanna Rock” was ranked the 17th greatest hard rock song by VH1. And for those who are a bit younger than I am, you might know the somewhat refreshing version of the song performed by SpongeBob. If not, check out the links below!
