Kill Everyone

Kill Everyone is the opening track on Purgatory by The Project Hate MCMXCIX, and also the most recent album (so far) for which I’ve created the cover art.

Like most of The Hate’s material, the song runs well over ten minutes and unfolds as an epic journey against everything holy.

From the very first second I heard this band, I was in awe — and 25 years later I still can’t get enough of their music. Long songs aren’t for everyone, but when done the way The Project Hate MCMXCIX does them, the result is something truly special. Their tracks feel like complete stories, often containing the dynamics of two or three songs in one.

Each song includes everything I love about heavy music: double kick drums, deep growls, powerful and beautiful female vocals, thrash metal riffing, faster sections and electronic elements — all present and accounted for. This band might not be for everyone, but once it clicks, you’re in for a dark and immersive musical journey.

What strikes me most is how incredibly productive they are, releasing new albums every one to two years. Lord K. Philipson, the mastermind behind the band, is also responsible for several other project-based acts. If you’re into the heavier and darker side of metal, definitely give this band a chance.
