Lords of Acid is a… well, I’m not quite sure — a techno/dance band of some kind. But they are awesome!
They are known for their provocative lyrics, blending techno and industrial music with various unorthodox themes. Their debut album, Lust (1991), became an underground hit, establishing their signature sound.
I personally discovered this band a few years ago, when the lead singer of another band I listen to was announced as the new singer of Lords of Acid. That singer being Carla Harvey, and the other band being Butcher Babies. They continued with one singer, while Carla continued with her own band as well as with Lords of Acid. So yeah, I dig the band. I don’t necessarily listen to them every day, but their music is really good background music for painting and sketching. And they just released a new album, the first one with Carla on vocals!
About the sketch: in 2025, I painted at Meeting of Styles in Malmö, Sweden. I had my sketchbook with me, which was filled mainly with song titles and band names — yes, one of those books used for this very website. I really liked this Lords of Acid sketch, but I thought that maybe the audience and organizers wouldn’t quite get it, or would misunderstand it. So I used the first two letters of it and used the shapes of the letters I and D for T. And that’s why this photo is included here. Since Ozzy Osbourne had died just a day or two prior to painting this, I wanted to show some respect to him as well. That’s why there’s bunch of Black Sabbath song titles written all around the background.
