Velcra

Velcra performs heavier music, throwing some industrial and nu-metal vibes in it. I am not quite sure how or even where I first came across them, but once I did, I was instantly hooked.

Before their debut album came out, I think they already had some songs available on Finnish online music services. They released three studio albums before calling it quits in 2008, and especially the first two were heavy as fuck! They’ve done a few reunion gigs since, but otherwise they’re no longer active. Their singer Jessi, on the other hand, is still making music — check out her stuff! It ain’t that much metal anymore, but it’s still good.

I still remember how awesome Velcra was live. They toured a lot in support of their first album, and the first gig I saw was their release party for Consequences of Disobedience in 2002 at Tavastia. After that, me and my crew mate Dams tried to catch every one of their shows in the Helsinki area. I’m not sure if we managed to get into all of them, but within a few years I think we saw Velcra closer to ten times.

I painted their name in 2015, and I am rather surprised I haven’t painted more Velcra stuff. Few sketches sure, but the piece in here is the only graffiti so far. Well, that could change in the future…
